Today, March 11, 2021 marks the one-year anniversary of the shutdown of Escuelita de Lita due to the Pandemic.  I announce, with the heaviest hearts, that we will not host Spanish camps this summer.  The doors to Escuelita will remain closed for the rest of the year.

As a small business owner, I carry all the risk and the uncertainties caused by the Pandemic have dealt a heavy blow. The Escuelita de Lita program is built on interactive, hands-on language learning, creativity and community building.  It would be greatly diminished with masks and social distancing.  Also, guaranteeing health safety, staffing and location is complicated at this time.

Being isolated from all the wonderful Escuelita families and kids this year has been very difficult for me.  My staff and I are so grateful for the opportunity to teach español to your kids over the years.  We share so many fond memories!  I love and appreciate you all and hope we can keep in touch.  Let this be Hasta luego and not Adiós.

Saludes,

Linda Fabel Duque a.k.a. Lita, Director

Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos!

Escuelita de Lita is the place where kids play, create, and learn in Spanish through immersion in a kaleidoscope of games, stories, dramatizations, song, dance, and experiences with arts, crafts, and physical activities-- all in Spanish!  At Escuelita de Lita, learning Spanish is natural, communicative, and always fun!

Since young children are active, creative constructors of meaning rather than passive receivers of vocabulary and information, all lessons are designed to be engaging, purposeful, and age-appropriate. The hands-on thematic content instruction is interwoven with rich Hispanic social and cultural contexts. When ready, holistic reading and writing experiences seamlessly accompany the development of oral language.

It's what Decatur kids are asking for!

This new schedule is a win-win situation that will provide the Escuelita kids 50% more contact time to learn and practice Spanish while giving parents a more solid block of time to exercise, grocery shop, or any other activity.

The activities during this 30-minute space will be more personalized and interactive for the kids who attend,

This is a convenient drop-off time for the F.AVE kids as well.

Escuelita de Lita also continues to offer
