Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos!

Escuelita de Lita is the place where kids play, create, and learn in Spanish through immersion in a kaleidoscope of games, stories, dramatizations, song, dance, and experiences with arts, crafts, and physical activities-- all in Spanish!  At Escuelita de Lita, learning Spanish is natural, communicative, and always fun!

Since young children are active, creative constructors of meaning rather than passive receivers of vocabulary and information, all lessons are designed to be engaging, purposeful, and age-appropriate. The hands-on thematic content instruction is interwoven with rich Hispanic social and cultural contexts. When ready, holistic reading and writing experiences seamlessly accompany the development of oral language.

It's what Decatur kids are asking for!

By popular demand Escuelita de Lita announces our

OPTIONAL  EXTENDED SCHEDULE (3:30 to 5pm)

for families who want MORE time!

This new schedule is a win-win situation that will provide the Escuelita kids 50% more contact time to learn and practice Spanish while giving parents a more solid block of time to exercise, grocery shop, or any other activity.

The activities during this 30-minute space will be more personalized and interactive for the kids who attend,

This is a convenient drop-off time for the F.AVE kids as well.

Escuelita de Lita also continues to offer

the 4 to 5pm class schedule and fee.

Escuelas aquí, escuelas allá.

Week of August 19th thru week of October 8th, 2019.

We will not meet during the CSD Fall break the week of September 23rd.

Escuelita kids will compare and contrast our local schools with schools in Hispanic communities, big and small.  We will also be delighted by some of our favorite storybook characters and their misadventures at school!

Mariposa monarca.

Week of October 14th thru week of December 2nd, 2019.

We will not meet during the CSD Thanksgiving break the week of November 25th.

There is so much to learn about Monarch butterflies!  Little scientists will investigate their life cycle, migratory patterns and make connections to their habitats in Mexico and the United States.  Oh, and not to forget their significant role during the celebration of el Día de los Muertos!

Me imagino.

Week of January 6th thru week of March 2nd, 2020.

We will not meet during the CSD Winter break the week of February 17th, nor the following week of February 24th.

Kids have boundless imagination as they view their world through different lenses. Escuelita kids will be challenged to imagine how everyday objects can appear to be different things.  They will be inspired by the picture books No es una caja and El libro fantástico, which both follow the same theme of using your imagination!

¡Exploremos Baja California!

Week of March 9th thru week of May 4th, 2020.

We will not meet during the CSD Spring break the week of April 6th nor the following week of April 13th.

Once again, Escuelita kids will embark on a virtual tour to discover the enchanting land of Baja California.  No place else on Earth has so many wonders: las playas, los desiertos, las montañas, los animales de mar y tierra, las los indigenas, y la deliciosa comida Méxicana.
